About Know India Programme

  • Know India Programme (KIP) is a flagship initiative for Diaspora engagement which familiarizes Indian-origin youth (18-30 years) with their Indian roots and contemporary India and feel a sense of connect with their motherland, to be motivated and inspired by transformational changes taking place in India and to give them an exposure to various aspects of contemporary India and its varied forms of art, heritage and culture. through a three-week orientation programme organised by the Ministry.
  • Since 2004, the MEA has conducted 48 Editions of KIP with participation of 1,612 Overseas Indian youth. The participants are selected on the basis of nominations recommended by the Indian Missions/ Posts abroad. The participants are provided full hospitality in India with economy class return journey air ticket at a nominal contribution of 10% of the cost of air ticket.
  • There are 40 participants including 22 females in this edition of KIP from eight countries namely Fiji (11), Guyana (06), Myanmar (06), Netherlands (1) South Africa (06), Sri Lanka (01), Suriname (03), and Trinidad & Tobago (06).

Content of the programme broadly includes the following

  • Presentations on the country, political process, developments in various sectors.
  • Interaction with faculty and students at a prestigious University/College/Institute
  • Presentation on the industrial development and visits to some Industries
  • Visit to a village to better understand the typical village life
  • Visit to Agra
  • Visit to one or two focus states in India
  • Interaction with NGOs and organizations dealing with women affairs
  • Visit to places of historical importance/Monuments
  • Taking part in Cultural programmes
  • Exposure to yoga
  • Call on high dignitaries, which may include Vice President of India, President House, Parliament, Union Ministers, Governor and Chief Ministers of partner states. Etc

2 . INDRANAVY, AVIAINDRA

Russian Federation Navy Ships arrive Visakhapatnam to participate in INDRA NAVY 2018

Ex Aviaindra 2018 Commences on 10 Dec 2018

INDRANAVY

  • INDRA NAVY, the bilateral maritime exercise between Indian Navy and Russian Federation Navy 
  • The primary aim of the exercise is to increase inter-operability amongst the two navies, develop common understanding and procedures for maritime security operations.
  • Initiated in 2003, INDRA NAVY exercise has matured over the years with increase in scope, complexity and level of participation.
  • This edition of the exercise would be held in two phases. The Harbour Phase would be held at Visakhapatnam would encompass planning conferences, professional interactions, cultural visits, sports fixtures and formal calls between Flag Officers/ Senior Officers of participating navies.
  • The Sea Phase  would be conducted in the Bay of Bengal. The thrust of exercises at sea would be on Anti Submarine Warfare (ASW), Air Defence drills, Surface Firings, Visit Board Search and Seizure (VBSS) operations and tactical procedures

AVIAINDRA

  • Ex AVIAINDRA, a service specific exercise between Indian Air Force and Russian Federation Aerospace Force (RFSAF), is planned at Air Force Station Jodhpur
  • The inaugural IAF-RFSAF Ex AVIAINDRA was conducted in 2014. AVIAINDRA-2018 is the second in the series of bilateral joint exercise between IAF-RFSAF.
  • The exercise is planned in two phases. The exercise is unique wherein the foreign participant does not bring its air assets.
  • In Russia, the IAF pilots flew alongside their Russian counterparts in RFSAF aircraft at Lipetsk . In India, the RFSAF pilots will fly alongside their Indian counterparts in the IAF aircraft, which are common to both Air Forces.
